Our History

In October 1985, Gary Thomas was called to preach the Gospel. He was licensed in September of 1987 and served as a an Elder at Evangelistic Crusaders for eight years. Audrey Thomas was also called to ministry serving as a Missionary in the Church. Even before becoming licensed in ministry, the couple was active in the field of evangelism. They preached the Gospel and shared their testimony whenever and wherever God sent them. Within the church they participated in the Soul Winning Ministry, Christian Education Ministry, Family Living Ministry and the Choir. Whatever the job, they did it as unto the Lord. Outside of the church they counseled substance abusers, mentored troubled teens and worked with prison outreach programs.

In 1993, Gary and Audrey Thomas were called to pastoral ministry.  They named the church Look Up and Live Full Gospel Church based on the following passage of scripture: Numbers 21:8-9 “And the Lord said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looks upon it, shall live.” On March 20, 1994, Pastors Gary and Audrey Thomas held their first service at Medgar Evers school auditorium.  Since the first service, our ministry’s primary purpose has been to bring deliverance and to prepare God’s chosen people for leadership. Our members are involved in outreach ministries that address areas such as substance abuse, marriage counseling, financial stewardship and health and wellness.  May 11, 2008, we moved into our new facility located at 661 West 83rd Street on Chicago’s Southside.  Our community center serves as the base from which we fulfill our mission of developing Christ-like leaders.
